Greetings!

At this time of the year, many people reflect on the inspiring message from Bethlehem, urging peace on earth and goodwill to all.

Peace on earth is a significant part of Quakers’ faith and action in the outer world.

We know peace is possible. But there are places around the globe, including our beloved Asia, where violence is actively ruining so many lives.

In coming weeks, Yangon Worshipping Group will be reaching out to Friends across the Asia West Pacific Section, asking us to join in a special “Myanmar Month of Action” in February 2026.

During these four weeks in February 2026, Friends who have registered their pledge to join the month-long event will be offered a range of suggested ways to act for peace in Burma/Myanmar.

Each Friend can reflect and choose to take practical actions, small or big, as they feel spiritually led. During this time they will learn about the range of actions being taken by other Friends in other yearly meetings, too.

This will be an opportunity to reminder ourselves of the situation in Myanmar/Burma since the violent military overthrow of the Myanmar government in February 2021. The “Myanmar Month of Action” will be an opportunity to help participating Friends connect and understand more – and have the humble satisfaction of being in fellowship with Friends across the Section who have devoted themselves to a peaceful future for Burma. At the end of the month, all who have pledged are free to lay down their service. (But if they decide to keep going, they can join with continuing Friends).

Hoping for a better world,

In Friendship,

Quakers in Asia West Pacific
